Well, wasn't the iMac G5 restricted to 2GB, yet it was a 64-bit processor? A 32-bit computer can take up to 4GB, but due to the hardware Apple was/is using, they can't even take this.
What i find odd is that it appears to allow 1 or 2GB in either slot, but no more than 3GB in total. That is obviously the maximum the board can take, but it would have made a little more sense to allow 2GB in each. This will not really effect it's ability to run 64-bit software, just restricts how much memory can be used. Remember that you have been able to get AMD systems with 64-bit processors for some time now. They won't take more than 4GB, but will allow you to run 64-bit OSes and Apps.
I suspect that it will take 2GB in each and you will get more than 3GB total, then. But HW addresses are going to eat up some of the 4GB total address space, so you're not going to get all 4GB. (Apple could restrict things to just 3GB regardless, although I can't see any reason for them to do so.) I suspect the 3GB is just a marketing move. After all, they wouldn't want to advertise something like "for an extra $500 we'll stick in a 2nd 2GB stick to give you an extra .1 GB of memory!"
I'd hoped for a full 64 bit system, though that probably wasn't realistic in the time frame. I'm not buying until January, so we'll see what comes out at MacWorld (which I think I'll actually go to this year) and then I'll decide. All in all, I think I'd be very happy with the 24" model (with a 2nd display).

125,000 is pretty darn good considering they only have 75 movies available. I would've contributed to the total if they had a half-a-decent selection.
What I don't understand is how Amazon was able to get all those studios on board, but not Apple. Prices are pretty similar. And the use terms are pretty similar. It seems as if studios just don't want to play ball with Apple. Hopefully the positive numbers will change things.

You know, thinking about this right now, it makes sense that they could possibly release the Merom MBP at this event. Apple could use the pitch:
"Bored? Feel like watching a movie? Forgot to pack your favorite DVD from home? NO PROBLEM! Now you can use your new MBP and an internet connection to watch your movie anytime and anywhere from the new iTunes movie store! From planes, to hotels, to the long boring seminars, where you sit in the back, as long as you can get connected, it's showtime!"
And that would be a great opportunity to introduce the new line. Granted, you can do all of that with the current stuff now, but I'm just being optimistic. :D

20% is a decent improvement in speed. However, I won't be replacing my 20" Intel iMac any time soon. There will be a time when I can't resist the upgrade, and a 24" is very appealing. But it's not a necessity - it's a desire.
The way things progress, I might find myself looking at a 3ghz iMac Core 4 Duo's in a couple years - and when that come out I'll be looking more closely.

I would love to see a mid-tower with these in it and there seems to be some demand for a mini-macpro ;) among forum contributers (based on what I've seen). However, with the release of the 24" imac it makes me wonder if we would ever see a mid range tower. The 24" imac provides the increased power and improved GPU. Also if the GPU does turn out to be replaceable, it makes for a harder argument for mid-tower no? The price range does seem to fit well between the regular imacs and pros...

As damienvfx suggestes there are plenty of commercials beyond trailers when you go out to the movies these days, which can easily be a $50+ affair, so why expect to be ad-free...
There have also been some ads (albeit more like trailers) tacked on th the end of some shows I have bought on iTMS.
But as I said, for HOME viewing, is there a precedent for ads?

Install Quicktime 7.1.3 (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/mac.html) then install iTunes 7 (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/). Connect your 3-5G iPod. Updater will appear in the new iTunes when you highligh the iPod in the left column. Eazy Peezy. :)

Looks like the C2D MBPs will be unveiled here. I mean the 17 MBP was unveiled at NAB, which is another imaging related event. Why do i get the feeling that Adobe might surprise us with CS3 there?..i mean if Apple is sending out invites then something big is happening and no its not an iSLR :rolleyes:

If the new one is announced before your order ships, it will be automatically upgraded. Otherwise, you should return the unopened product within 2 weeks of purchase for a free upgrade.

To the guy that on page 2 requested a 7600GT in the MBP's: Why? The X1800XT is gonna whoop it's butt, and ATI is way better at making mobile cards. Oh BTW, the X1600's were not underlocked. I saw a thread somewhere, that said they wouldn�t run at full speed when not needed.;)

This thing has the potential to be Apple's ultimate David attack on Goliath. There's a lot riding on this phone and they better make sure that they get it right because everyone is watching. If they have any problems the thing will be doomed. Remember the mp3 turf is theirs that all these phone manufactures and others are trying beat them at. Now Apple's taking these guys on in the phone industry's backyard. It won't be as easy as all the rumor mills are making it appear.
That said...I just had to recently switch to Cingular network and went with the freebie Nokia just because I know if I bought anything new this thing would come out the next day. And yes I'll probably purchase one if they get it right.

There's pretty much no news in this news piece.
We know it's going to include Sandy Bridge and Thunderbolt. We know it's unlikely to be re-designed and we know it's going to be between now and May.
